What are white blood cells capable of?
They guard and fight against infection, and they can leave the blood vessels.
Where are white blood cells produced?
They’re produced in bone marrow.
What do white blood cells keep and how long do they live?
They keep their nuclei and live for years.
What are the two types of white blood cells?
Innate immunity: Monocytes and Neutrophils
Acquired immunity: T-cells and B-cells
Where are monocytes and neutrophils from? What does this mean about them?
They’re from part of the body’s innate immune response (meaning they have no memory)
What are cell eating white blood cells called?
Phagocytic macrophages
What do monocytes and neutrophils have the ability to do?
They have the ability to move out of the capillaries to seek out and destroy foreign particles.
How do innate immunity cells move?
They behave like amoebae and use pseudopodial (fake walking, like spiderman.) to move.
