  6. Newly naturalized citizens’ papers not processed for 6 months
  7. Polling places opened 2 hours late so early morning workers could not vote
  8. Employers would not give hourly workers time off

  1. Unearned advantages not based on individual merit or hard work but based on having white skin;
  2. The privilege/advantage is not encountering hassles because you are white
  3. People network unconsciously because you look like them or have a friend in common
  4. Not about how hard you work

  1. Denial- racism does not exist anymore; we have equal opportunity now
  2. Minimization- downplay the reality of racism ex) slaves/descendants have a better life here than they would have in Africa
  3. Blame- blame the victim ex) blacks are just lazy
  4. Unintentional- I didn’t mean to be racist ex) racist joke about blacks/jews/etc.
  5. Competing Victimization- I’m a victim too because i’m a woman/jewish/etc. ex) undocumented workers are taking our jobs
