autologous transfusion
a blood transfusion in which the patient’s own blood is used
blood pressure (BP)
measure of the force of blood pushing against vessels
body mass index (BMI)
calculated number based on a person’s height and weight ratio; indicator of body fat levels
electroencephalogram (EEG)
test that measures electrical activity of the brain
electromyography (EMG)
test that measures electrical activity of the muscles
evoked potential study
a test that measures the time it takes nerves to respond to stimuli by a study of brain waves (used to test sight, hearing, diagnoses multiple sclerosis, etc.)
hemodialysis
a procedure done on a person with end-stage renal disease in which a machine is used to filter waste products from the blood

a type of treatment for thyroid cancer and hyperthyroidism that uses radioactive iodine to destroy diseased thyroid tissue

test to measure clearness of vision (20/20 - normal daylight vision)
