Q

What is the conservation of resources theory (Hobfoll) (WFC)

A
  • Individuals are assumed to work to protect and conserve resources they value (objects, roles, time for work, money, status at work, help with tasks)
  • Actual or threatened loos of resources (or not gaining after investing) causes stress
  • Gains lead to gains (payrise=work more), losses lead to losses
  • when work and fam compete for these resources leads to role strain

e. g. good uni experience helps with bad work experience

Low WFE + Low WFC = Passive
Low WFE + High WFC = harmful
High WFE + Low WFC = beneficial
High WFE + High WFC = Active
