What does Christianity teach about worship? (4)
-Christianity teaches us that worship helps to improve a persons relationship with God and others because prayers us a form of communication
-Christianity teaches us that individual worship involves prayer, the main types of prayer are sorrow, thanksgiving and praise and adoration
-Christianity teaches us that community worship in the Catholic Church involves the sacraments and the liturgical seasons shush as advent or lent
-Christianity teaches us that worship is important for Christian’s as it allows them to thank both God individually and as a community
EXPLAIN why Christian’s worship (4)
-Christian’s may worship as it connects followers with God and helps them to understand him better
-Christian’s may worship as it brings people together with fellow believers so they can connect as one family
-Christian’s may worship as it acknowledges that God is greater than them and that he is the sustainer
-Christian’s may worship as it shows appreciation to God for what he has done for them, e.g. sending Jesus as an incarnation
To be a Christian it is essential to worship with others. How far do you agree (8)
-Many Christian’s would believe this as showing love for God and each other within a Christian community is a valuable source of encouragement for example in the sharing of ‘the peace’
-St Paul urged fellow believes to not give up on meeting together, the Christian church is the people that make it up, so worshipping together is vital
-Communion is an especially important act of worship for many Christian’s, and be definition is done with others
-Owshipping is a part of a Christian’s witness - a sign to theirs that their faith is real
-Going to church shows you are associating yourself with other Christians
HOWEVER
-Some Christian’s don’t believe this as worship is showing appreciation to God and some believe this should be done individually
-Worship connects followers with God and helps them to understand him, everyone’s religious journey is different and some believe this should be done in private
-During the COVID19 pandemic many were forced to worship on their own and throughout it Christian’s learned it was possible
