A

Underestimated distances (exhausted army and slowed them down)
Plan changed (right wing troops taken to strengthen left, right unable to advance)
Belgian resistance was stronger than expected
British expeditionary force inflicted heavy casualties (at mons)
French troops had enough time to get to Paris
