The 1914 xmas truce

A

Soldiers were promised they would be home by xmas.
1914 on xmas day in ypres german and british soldiers came to a truce and played soccer together
This event was seen as very human and happened before soldiers really felt hatred towards the other side.this event never happened again.
Trench warfare
errible conditions.
Germans actually had electricity in their trenches but the British were in muddy wet trenches they hadn’t put much effort in assuming they wouldn’t be there for that long.
trenches distorted European land. And it made it impossible to charge at enemies.
soldiers would be
sent over the top. into no man’s land.
A place that was unserviceable littered with bodies everywhere. So basically a death sentence, you and others would have to come out of the trench and charge the other side. If you
refused then you would get a bullet threw your head. Nobody ever thought they would survive the trenches.

And represented by trimester Robert Borden not britain. Treaty of Versailles France, USA and Britain blamed Germany for the war. Germany invaded France. most of the fighting was in French; they were the angriest. They wanted revenge. Part of the British government wanted punishment. But most wanted to prevent another war so they wanted to go east germany. They were onto something The USA wanted a softer treaty. They had joined the war late and thought Germany was an important country. They want to keep peace and they did not join the league of nations or signed the treaty. Germany Blamed Austria-Hungary and Serbia. But Germany signed the treaty. They are disgusted by the treaty. Now Germany wants revenge.
