debating how to use the atomic bomb - killed a bunch of civilians - wanted to drop to shock Japan into surrendering - allies threaten Japan with death if they don't respond - didn't respond so they dropped a bomb on hiroshima - destroyed 63% of Hiroshima - dropped another on Nagasaki - killed a bunch of civilians
