- unequal pay
- little consultation with AA women & little opportunity to join armed forces/take managerial roles
- life for japanese american women became difficult & confinement/discrimination due to japanese attack on pearl harbour (1941)
- women remained divided

- increased economic activity during war = sustained period of prosperity
- led to greater domestication of women
- growth of suburbs = greater emphasis on women in the home (away from public sphere)
- greater prosperity = reduction in social issues women campaigned for
= period of stagnation (or even regression)
