They still used horses, sent messages via motorcycles, orders were

21
Q

Uk

the start the English weren’t much better than the French
Chamberlain thought the war could end without violence
Instead of bombing raids they dropped propaganda leaflets over German
cities
One of the English air marshals said that they accomplished nothing but
provide toilet paper for the remainder of the war.
UK also only sent 200,000 men to France while the French marched millions.

22
Q

AVOIDING A 2
ND
GREAT WAR

A

Both Britain and France wanted to avoid a repeat of the first world war,
They wanted to keep the war as far from home as possible.
So they turned their eyes towards Norway.

The allies asked them to stop exporting iron ore to Germany.
But this request was refused.

23

A

The English tried putting mines in the waters around Norway
Hitler knew what they were up to & swiftly invades Norway
He forces the allies to retreat

Winston Churchill takes his place
He had a different approach to fighting the Germans.

25
Beligium
The allies had wanted to place troops in Belgium. But Belgium said no. In a move that surprised pretty much no one. Hitler launched an invasion to get around France's defenses. The allies charged into Belgium at full speed. It looked like a repeat of the first world war was coming. This time, Hitler had a trick up his sleeve, blitzkrieg.
26
Strategic war fare
As the Germans advanced, they sent thousands of refugees west Slowing down the allies. The French had left the Ardennes, an area filled with hills and forests. Under-defended, they thought it was naturally impenetrable. The Germans penetrated through it They smashed 50 Wehrmacht divisions through,
27
Allies nearly defeated
Germany encircled the allied armies at lightning speed. The best of the allied forces were now trapped. The Germans squeezed in from all sides, taking out France's best armies, and nearly wiping out the British, too. But the allies managed to make a desperate last-minute escape at Dunkirk, British civilian ships made the perilous journey to bring their troops home.
28
Hitler does what no other leader could
``` With the French forces gone, The Germans easily took Paris, France had fallen. What the Germans couldn't do in the 4 years of ww1. Hitler had done in a few months. ```
29
I’m refuses to give up hope
Hitler hoped that with the fall of France, the UK would lose hope and sue for peace. But it didn't. He needed to secure the western front. So he tried to force them into submission, with mind games. The UK were now all alone and Hitler wanted to emphasize that. Just before France fell, Italy finally declared war on the allies, making the UK's situation even worse.
