In 1902 a young socialist Benito Mussolini moves from Italy to Switzerland
Benito Mussolini gets in trouble with Swiss police
A lot of Mussolini’s ideas made him famous
Mussolini protested Italy’s involvement
Mussolini felt Italy needed a fresh start
He thought it would lead Italians
S to greatness
Italy had been on the allies side in ww1
Italy had weak goverment
Mussolini to the king and asked to be prime minister
King said yes and mussoloni became prime minister
Germany had been on the loser side and were absolutely devastated by the treaty of Versailles
Had to pay the allies a huge amount of money that it didn’t have
Germany was in a very bad place
But a small angry man came along and said i can fix this
Hitler was soldier during ww1
He helped start a new political party started a march but got arrested
Hitler and Mussolini had a lot of the same ideas
They started to get along
Japan had isolated itself from the rest of the world for over 200 year
They had no natural resources so they got some
They went to war with China to creat a sphere of influence over Korea
The west then started setting up spheres of influence on weakened China and Korea
Japan was understandably upset
But they didn’t stop there
IN WW1, THEY TOOK GERMANY’S COLONIES AND
Islands in Asia
THEN IN AN INCIDENT THAT WAS STAGED BY THE
Japanese army
A BOMB BLEW UP A
JAPANESE TRAIN IN MANCHURIA.
GIVING THEM AN EXCUSE TO
LAUNCH AN INVASION AND
TAKE OVER.
Hitler hates the
Treaty of Versailles
He was ready to begin
Undoing it
In complete
Violation if the treaty
The first luftwaffe
Squadrons were set up
HITLER SENDS HIS BEEFED UP ARMY TO THE DEMILITARIZED
RHINELAND WITH ORDERS TO RETREAT IF THE ALLIES SHOWED
