1.I’ve been going to my school for five years but I’ve never learnt anything interesting. I have to do homework every day. I played the piano today as I’m interested in music. There were very few extra-curricular activities at my primary school. Tomorrow if it’s sunny I’ll take part in a basketball match.
Voy a mi insti desde hace cinco años, pero nunca he aprendido nada interesante. Tengo que hacer los deberes todos los días. Hoy toqué el piano porque me interesa la música. Había muy pocas actividades extraescolares en mi escuela primaria. Mañana, si hace sol, participaré en un partido de baloncesto.
- Tonight I made a special dinner. My brother doesn’t like turkey so we ate ham and vegetables. We were celebrating my dad’s birthday. He will turn fifty next Monday but we had to give him his cake today because tomorrow he is going to go on holiday with my mum. My brother and I will stay at my nan’s house
Esta noche preparé una cena especial. A mi hermano no le gusta el pavo, así que comimos jamón y verduras. Celebrábamos el cumpleaños de mi padre. Él cumplirá cincuenta años el próximo lunes, pero tuvimos que darle su pastel hoy porque mañana va de vacaciones con mi madre. Mi hermano y yo nos quedaremos en casa de mi abuela.
3.There are about seven hundred students in our school. It’s much better than my primary school since it didn’t have many activities. I’m a member of the book club here. Last term we had a talk from a writer who read us part of his latest novel. It really inspired me! Now I want to be an author too!
Hay unos setecientos alumnos en nuestro instituto. Es mucho mejor que mi escuela primaria ya que no tenía muchas actividades. Soy miembro del club de lectores aquí. El trimestre pasado tuvimos una charla de un escritor que nos leyó una parte de su última novela. ¡Me inspiró mucho! ¡Ahora quiero ser autor también!
4.I always go shopping in the city. My sister thinks it’s cheaper online. We like finding bargains. Last Saturday I bought a designer dress in a second-hand shop, and tomorrow I’m going to look for a leather belt.

5.Although some famous people behave badly, others can be good role models. I admire the tennis player Andy Murray. He was born in Scotland and as a child he practised various sports. However, his passion has always been tennis – he has just won a gold medal in the Olympic Games. I hope to see his next match in Valencia
Aunque algunas personas famosas se comportan mal, otras pueden ser buenos modelos a seguir. Admiro al tenista Andy Murray. Nació en Escocia y de niño practicó varios deportes. Sin embargo, su pasión siempre ha sido el tenis: acaba de ganar una medalla de oro en los Juegos Olímpicos. Espero ver su próximo partido en Valencia.

Por un lado, tomar drogas no es tan peligroso como consumir heroína. Por otro lado, sé que a veces pueden causar fracaso escolar. Nunca he probado los cigarrillos. Mi amigo empezó a fumar cuando era más joven y ahora no puede parar. A partir de ahora intentará llevar una vida más sana.
7.I love going out for dinner. Last Saturday we visited this restaurant for the first time. My colleague ordered hake, but the waiter brought * meat. On top of that, he was very rude. The worst part was it was very expensive . I’ll never go back there! * trajo
Me encanta salir a cenar. El sábado pasado visitamos por primera vez este restaurante. Mi compañero pidió merluza pero el camarero trajo carne. Además, era muy maleducado. Lo peor fue que era muy caro. ¡Nunca volveré allí!
8.In July, my parents and I visited the city of Bogotá, in Colombia. We saw museums and other places of interest. Our guide helped us understand the history of the area. I was impressed by the architecture. I’ll go back someday, although first I’d like to travel all around the world.
En julio, mis padres y yo visitamos la ciudad de Bogotá, en Colombia. Vimos museos y otros lugares de interés. Nuestro guía nos ayudó a entender la historia de la zona. Estaba impresionado con la arquitectura. Volveré algún día, aunque primero me gustaría viajar por todo el mundo.
