Y9 - Term 2 - Chemestry and Earth Science Flashcards
(10 cards)
Define Atom
Atoms are basic building blocks of matter.
What is an atoms structure
The centure is called the nucleus, it contains protons and neutrons and moving around the nucleolus at a high speed are electrons.
What charge dose protons, nutrons and electrons have?
Protons = positive charge
Nutrons = nutral charge
Electrons = negative charge
What is static electricity?
Static electricity, also known as electrostatics, is a buildup of electrical charge on the surface of an object, which can be positive or negative.
What is current electricity?
Electric current refers to the flow of electricity in an electronic circuit, and to the amount of electricity flowing through a circuit.
What is a current?
An electric current is a flow of charged particles, such as electrons or ions, moving through an electrical conductor or space.
What is a conductor?
In the context of electricity, a conductor is a material that allows electric current to flow through it easily.
What is electrical charge?
Electric charge, basic property of matter carried by some elementary particles that governs how the particles are affected by an electric or magnetic field.
What is the energy transformation?
Chemical -> elcetrical -> heat -> light
