A
- criticized the CCCS
- in the 50’s girls were restricted to early mariage and under large social control
- in the 70’s bedroom culture was seen
- girls getting together, gossiping and discussing magazines
- anxieties about male interaction led to forming tight friendships
- the reason for ‘invisibility’ in other subculture studies is because they spent more time inside than outside therefore weren’t visible

- E.g. She looked at the contents of girls magazines and found that they used to focus on romantic relationships and now look at girls self-confidence
