What is 3D printing?
The process of making a physical object from a 3D digital model, typically by laying down many thin layers of a material on top of each other
How does 3D printing work?
The 3D printing process, layers of material are laid down by the ‘3D printer until the object you made online has been fully printed
What is disruptive technology?
It is technology that has had a big effect on something. It has displaced an established technology.
3D printing advantages
Changes can be made to the design online before wasting materials, It uses hardwearing, durable waterproof and lightweight plastics, creates intricate shapes
3D printing disadvantages
The layering process is slow, only uses curtain materials, some training is needed
3D printing methods
Selective laser melting, Stereolithography, selective laser sintering and poly jet
3D printing materials
Many different materials such as 3D printing filaments, plastics, carbon fibre, aluminium and nylon
