Yr9 physics Flashcards
(18 cards)
What’s the formula for speed
Speed= distance x time
What’s the formula for acceleration
Acceleration = change in velocity/change in time
What’s a resultant force
It’s a single force that replaces all the forces altering on an object
What’s newtons 1st law
An object won’t change its motion unless a force acts on it
What’s newtons 2nd law
The force on an object is equal to its mass times its acceleration f=ma
What’s newtons 3rd law
When 2 objects interact they apply forces to each other of equal magnitude and opposite direction
What is friction
The force that occurs when 2 surfaces rub against each other
What is magnitude
Is the size of a physical quantity
What is a scaler quantity
It’s a quantity that only has magnitude
What is a vector
Is a quantity that has magnitude and direction
What’s a contact force
A forces between to objects that are touching
What is a force
A push and pull
What’s a non contact force
A force witch affects an object without touching it
Atraction
Attraction is when 2 or more things that are attracted together
Repulltion
2 or more things that are forced apart
Weight
Weight is the force acting on an object due to the pull of gravity from a big object
Mass
Mass is how much an object contians
Work done
Is how much energy is used during a task
