Bicarbonaat is een base, dus als je acidose hebt is er weinig base. Dus bicarbonaat neemt af.

Formule van de anion gap = (Na + Ka) - (bicarbonaat + chloor). Als bicarbonaat afneemt neemt anion gap dus toe (doet min een kleiner getal)
