- Plasma (55%)

Fluid portion of blood
Contains food nutrients, waste, hormones, antibodies

Blood proteins:
- Albumins, osmotic pressure
- Globulins, immunity
- Fibrinogens, blood clotting

Red Blood Cells (Erythrocytes)

A

No nucleus (more room for hemoglobin)
Made in bone marrow and destroyed in spleen
Hemoglobin gives red colour, picks up oxygen
With oxygen is called oxyhemoglobin
With carbon dioxide is called carboxyhemoglobin

Are phagocytes (“cell eaters”)
can change shape and destroy germs by phagocytosis and digesting them
