Mesopotamia was located in the Middle East in Iraq.
What were the two main rivers called?
The Tigris and the Euphrates.
Where do the two rivers flow into?
They flow into the Persian Golf.
What remains of Babylon?

Why did people come from all over the world to Babylon?
They came to trade their wares.
What was the seconded greatest city called?
It was called Nineveh.
What was Babylon the capital of?
Babylon was capital of the Babylonians.
Was Mesopotamia ruled by one king or many kings?
Mesopotamia was rarely ruled my just one king.
What were the three important tribes?
The Babylonians, The Sumerians and The Assyrians.
By 3100 BC what did people already know what to do?
They knew how to shape bricks from clay and build houses and temples.
What was found in one of the largest mounds?
There were ruins of the city Ur where.
What were the tombs packed with, in the pyramids?
They were packed with dazzling golden headdresses and gold vessels for sacrifices, gold helmets, gold daggers, etc
Where did the explorers who found theses treasures take them too?
They took them to England.
Where can you see these treasures today?
You can see them in the British Museum and the University of Pennsylvania and the Museum of Baghdad in Iraq.
What else did they find in those tombs?
They also found seals and inscribed clay tablets.
The tablets were not in hieroglyphics, what were they?
They were a writing system called Cuneiform.
What is Cuneiform?
It is a wedged shaped writing.
One of the first Babylonian kings to rule over the whole region left what?
They left a long and important inscription engraved in stone.
What is the stone called?
It is called the Code of Hammurabi.
Where does the name Code if Hammurabi come from?
It comes out of a story-book.
When did King Hammurabi live?
He lived around 1700 BC and that is 3700 years ago.
What were most of The Babylonians and The Assyrians paintings or statues of?
They were kings that were out hunting or inspecting kneeling captives bound in chains or foreign tribes people feeling before the wheels of their chariots and warriors attacking fortresses.
What did the kings look like?
They had long black ringlets and rippling beards.
Who did the kings make sacrifices to?
They made sacrifices to Baal, the sun god, or to moon goddess Ishtar or Astarte.
