Definition of Phontophoresis

A
  • Use of US to transfer medication through the skin (transdermal)
  • Can be used either continuous (more beneficial to increase blood flow) or pulsed
  • If pro-inflammatory response, use non-thermal

  • Cortisol
  • Salicylates
  • Dexamethasone (best applied continuous - thermal)
