(8 cards)
On a dashboard, how can I select the Accessories grouping and make it filter the results on the other visualisation on the same dashboard?
Select the visualisation and click on the filter button. This will create an action that will filter other visualisation on this dashboard.
What happens if we select Ignore Actions for a visualisation on a dashboard?
It means that filters applied to other visualisations on the dashboard will not impact this particular visualisation. Effectively, filtering only works in one direction, which is from this visualisation to others.
There are two sheets included on the dashboad below. Explain how to ensure that when I filter the one on the left by Grouping == Accessories
, then one on the right will also be filtered accordingly?
Select the sheet on the left, the toggle on the Filter icon. This will ensure that whaetever selection is filtering its result will also filter the results on the right.
Provided that filters are enabled for all visualisations on a dashboard, what will happen to the visualisation on the right if I filter the one on the left by Grouping == Accessories
?
Even though the visualisation on the right does not include the Grouping dimension, it shares the same dataset as the visualisation on the left-hand side.
Since filters are all enabled, when I filter the dataset byGrouping == Accessories
, then the resulting table will also apply to the visualisation on the right. In summary, visualisations do not need to share the same dimensions in order to filter each other.
What is the difference between these 3 filters?
- Top filter applies to the
Grouping
dimension - Middle filter applies to an aggregated measure -
SUM(Sales)
- Bottom filter applies to
Profit
at a row level, no aggregations is involved.
What does this symbol means?
This means that the filter applies to multiple worksheets, not only the current worksheet.
