What is atman
The real self. The soul. A person’s spirit.
What is avatar
The descent of a deity to earth; God in physical form.
What is Brahman
The impersonal absolute; the ultimate reality from which everything comes.
What is gunas
Tendencies to behave in certain ways which are separate from Atman but influence one’s personality and actions as they’re differently balanced in different people. All of them have positive and negative aspects.
What is Om
The sacred symbol representing Brahman.
What is raja
The quality/guna of being ambitious, passionate (having a desire to be energetic and ambitious).
What is sanatan dharma
The eternal religion (Hinduism) / eternal teaching.
What is sattva
The quality (guna) of goodness.
What is shakti
The energy or power connected with Hindu feminine deities.
What is shiva
The aspect of Brahman which destroys the universe (one of the three Trimurti).
What is Trimurti
The Hindu triad of three gods representing three aspects of Brahman; Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. They’re involved in the cycle of the universe; creation, preservation and destruction.
What is Vishnu
An aspect of Brahman maintaining and preserving the order of the universe (the Trimurti member who sustains/preserves the universe).
