on the 31st of August 1939 the German SS disguised in Polish army uniforms and attacked a german radio station and Hitler used this as an excuse to invade poland.
2 days later britian and france declared war on germany and WW2 began

In December 1941 Japan attacked Pearl Harbour in Hawaii where are the American Pacific fleet was based. Thankfully for America, the main part of the fleet was at sea when the attack occurred

Soon after Hitler declared war on America as part of an agreement with Japan. The USA was now involved in WWII

The German army use new war Tactics against Poland which lead to quick victory.
These Tactics, called Blitzkrieg or lightning war were later used against France and Russia.
Their success depended on speed and and surprise and Poland was defeated in 5 weeks

America and Britain went ahead with operation Overlord-the Invasion of the the continent of Europe on D-Day 6th of June 1944
