Q

Describe Glucose metabolism after a meal- kidney

A
  1. Glycose is absorbed from the intestine into the liver
  2. Glycose is stored as glycogen
  3. excess glycogen= fatty acids which form triglycerides
  4. triglicerides can form lipoproteins which leave the liver into the blood stream and can be stored within adipose

Q

Metabolism of Lipids

A
  1. Chylomicron are passed through the lymphatic system to the thoracic duct
  2. Chymicron enters the blood system via the thoracic duct. in the blood stream the chymicron is broken down into triglycerides
  3. triglycerides are absorbed into the liver
  4. triglycerides are released as lipoprotein
  5. Lipoproteins are used as energy in muscles or stored in adipose
