1. neurones in reflex arc go through spinal cord or unconscious part of brain.
2. when stimulus is detected by receptors, impulse is sent along a sensory neurone to CNS
3. in CNS, sensory neurone passes message to relay neurone
4. relay neurones relay impulse to motor neurone
5. impulse travels along motor neurone to effector
6. muscle contracts and moves
