10.1 Flashcards
(5 cards)
1
Q
What happens in each phase
A
G1: growth and normal cellular functions, preparation for replication of DNA.
Synthase: DNA replication.
G2:Cell continues to grow, produces more organelles, proteins, and membranes in preparation for division.
Mitosis: DNA divides, than the cytoplasm divides
2
Q
What are the three things that can happen to a cell after dividing.
A
Death, differentiate, or divide
3
Q
Examples of Stimulating and inhibitory proteins.
A
Stimulating
proto-oncogene, cyclins, growth factors
Move the cell into the next stage of the cell cycle
Inhibitory
prevent activation of CDK-cyclins
MAD

4
Q
What is the order of events for cell cycle regulation.
A
- Growth factors are released
- Cyclin levels increase
- Cyclin complexes form activate CDk
- CDK activates the next phase.
