Work/study Flashcards

Q

Do you miss being a student

A

Well I do

With graduation looming, I’ve found myself becoming nostalgic about student life.

Especially the people. I feel like the ppl I have at Uni whether that’s in my accommodation or on my course or just on the campus in general really really make my experience and after graduation, not everyone’s going to stay in touch, not everyone’s going to stay in the same city.

People move away or move back home and everyone gets on their own like the pace of life. Everyone branches off and does their own thing so it can be really difficult to keep in touch and meet up with people especially in a lockdown but if that wasn’t the case. I’m sure it would be equally as difficult to try and arrange meetups or see people and everything like that.

So I miss seeing my friends every day, being surrounded by people that I really get on with and enjoy and have fun with every day that’s definitely something I miss

Q
  1. Are you a student or do you work?
A

I’m currently a senior at NEU, which is one of the top schools in the nation. I’ve been studying there for 4 years. Admission is incredibly competitive so I’m very proud of being a student here.

Q
  1. Why did you choose that subject?
A

I was inspired by my sister. She is a successful businesswoman in logistics. So even since then, I plan to follow in her footsteps after graduation.

Q
  1. Do you like your studies?
A

Absolutely, I love it. I particularly like logistics and SCM because I can learn more about the movement of goods from suppliers to customers, delivery values for them as well. On top of that, They’re practical and have lots of case study to carry out.

Q
  1. Do you prefer to study in the mornings or in the afternoon?
A

I definitely prefer studying in the mornings. I am at my optimal level of performance when I first wake up in the morning after a cup of tea. So I like to get my studying out of the way so I can relax more throughout the day. When I try to study in the afternoons, I tend to be too tired and sleepy.

Q
  1. What would you like to change about your job?
A

Well, I am not a big fan of writing reports actually. So if I could, I would change that. It’d be good to outsource that to somebody else but all in all (u know) I enjoy my jobs.

Q
  1. Can you describe your work environment?
A

I work in an office. It’s an open plan office. There are about 30 of us. The facilities are pretty good. We’ve got air conditioning, a canteen, ergonomic chairs and the atmosphere where everybody quite chilled down, laid back.

Q
  1. What’s the most difficult part of your study?
A

Well, for the most part, I’d say it’s the workload. I mean there are so many assignments and students are always under a lot of pressure from deadlines. But on the other hand, exams are a piece of cake. They are quite predictable, and I can breeze through them with a bit of revision.

Q
  1. What do you like most about your school?
A

I guess the aspect I find most ẹnoyable is the environment. I mean, I get to study in English - speaking classrooms and the facilities are top-notch; I mean, all the classrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with projectors. My friends and teachers are all very nice as well, so all in all it’s a great place to study.
