Audio - converting analogue to digital sound Flashcards
1
Q
converting analogue to digital sound
A
Analogue sound can be converted into digital sound through the use of a analogue digital converter
2
Q
how is sound captured
A
Sound is captured at regular intervals as samples through an input device, e,g microphone which creates electronic signals based on the sound’s volume and pitch.
o The electronic signals are sent to and ADC, e.g. sound card, and assigned a binary digit which represents the volume and pitch of the sound captured.
o Through the ADC, the sound is converted from analogue sound into digital audio as binary. The quality of the conversion is determined by the sample size and rate.
