Carol–> 4/5(Carol’s total=5 units)
Caroline–>1/2=4/8 (Caroline’s total=8 units)

1u–> 800/8=100

Question 2

There were 120 apples and oranges in a box. 1/2 of the number of apples is equal to 1/3 of the number of oranges. Find the number of each type of fruit in the box.

Jermaine solved the above sum. Study his solutions.

Apples: 1/2=3/6
Oranges: 1/3=2/6
6u+6u=12u
12u=120
1u=120/12=10
6u= 10x6=60

Jermaine changed the denominator which is incorrect. 1/2 apples=1/3 oranges. Therefore, I do not agree with Jermaine’s solution.

My solution:
2+3=5
5units=120
1 unit=120/5=24
Apples=2units
2units=24x2=48
Oranges are 3 units.
3units=24x3=72
