Where are electrons located within in an atom?
in a region of space around the nucleus
What type of electrical charge do protons have?
positive charge
What type of electrical charge do neutrons have?
neutral charge
What type of electrical charge do electrons have?
negative charge
What are neutral atoms?
Atoms that have an equal number of protons and electrons, so their charges cancel out.
What are atomic ions?
Atoms that are charged because they have differing numbers of protons and electrons.
What is a chemical compound?
a pure substance made of two or more elements that are chemically combined in a uniformed composition
