What are long bones? Provide examples

A

All limb bones, excluding carpals, tarsals and paternal. It is primarily compact with small amounts of spongy bone. Long refers to the shape, not size e.g. phalanges vs femur

What are short bones? Provide examples

A

It is mostly spongy within compact bone surface layers. This includes carpals and tarsels.

A

A bone that is thin with a slight curve, and has two parallel compact surfaces that surround a layer of sponge e.g. scapula, clavicle, ribs, sternum, skull

A complex shape, that is mainly spongy with a thin layer compact e.g. coxal bone, vertebrae, sacrum, coccyx
