Define Infinitive
The basic/root form of a verb. e.g, see, write, think. Usually presented with infinitive marker “to”
Progressive/continuous infinitive
(To) be … ing. Situations are/were/will be continuing around the time we are talking about.
Perfect infinitive
(To) have + past participle. Usually used to talk about past events that did not occur.
Passive infinitives
(To) be + past participle.
When Is TO used as a preposition / infinitive marker
Preposition = when followed by verb in gerund form (ing)
Infinitive marker = used to show the next word is an infinitive
Bare infinitive
Use of the infinitive without TO
When do we use the Bare infinitive
After modal auxiliaries such as; will, would, can, could, shall, should, may, might, must
“I must go now” is an example of which infinitive form?

When do we use infinitives
As subjects and complements. To explain, reason, purpose or function. To To add more info on to what is expressed in certain verbs, verb+object combos, adjectives and nouns.
Define Gerund
A form of a verb that ends in -ing that is used as a noun
Why do we use ING forms?
In continuous tenses, listing activities, using a verb after a preposition
