Q

For design condition-Where to located the max. allowable stress? and what if it is not located in table?

A

API 650 table 5.2 (for new+reconstructed), if not , than an allowable stress of value lesser of 2/3 Y or 2/5 of T.

Q

Formula to calculate mini thickness of shell of a reconstructed tank?

A

td=2.6(H-1)DG/SE +CA (no CA for tt)
t=inches
D=ft
H=design liquid level

t=hydrostatic test
d= design condition
E=1 in new tanks (is deseamed if not follow table 4.2)
