H. Influenza, M. Catarrhalis, and Strep Pneumoniae
What is first line treatment for AOM?
Amoxicillin or Augmentin (if recent ABX exposure)

Pseudomonas, Staph Aureus
What is first line treatment for AOE?
Ofloxacin or ciprofloxacin ear drops
What is the 1st line response for chalazion?
Hot compress several times a day
What bacteria causes hordeolum?
Staph - needs ABX!
When is IV ABX indicated for cellulitis in eye area?
severe preseptal cellulitis (fever, systemic S/S) or orbital cellulitis

Very thick, purulent mucus discharge

How is a corneal abrasion diagnosed? How is it treated?
fluorescein staining. ABX drops and lubricating ointment

sulfa allergies. Decrease production
In patients with glaucoma, when should alpha 2 agonists be avoided?
Children under 5, MAOIs

Prostaglandin analogs, cholinergic agents
