FADEC FAIL

Answer 1

Symptoms:
● FADEC 1 FAIL or FADEC 2 FAIL
● Engine status light on overhead quadrant
● PFD TRQ display switches to OEI GOV mode
● Affected engine will not respond to collective movement due to fuel flow metering being frozen at the rate present when the FADEC failed

Corrective action:

                 WARNING Rapid reduction of the collective with a FADEC 1 FAIL or FADEC 2 FAIL could result in an overspeed condition and possible engine shutdown by the BIM

1. TRNG SWITCH - FLT
   WARNING
   EBCAU operation, if selected while in the Training mode, will conflict with FADEC logic and operation will be unpredictable. The FADEC BACKUP switch shall not be in BACKUP when an engine is at TRNG IDLE as N1 matching will occur without regard to the opposite engine, N1 setting.
2. FADEC BACKUP SWITCH (affected engine) - CONFIRM; BACKUP
   NOTE
   While FADEC N1 matching is assured, there will be some acceleration delay on the engine in Backup Mode.
