A

A solution of a known concentration.

How do you prepare a standard solution?

A
  • The solid is weighed accurately and dissolved with distilled water and transferred to a volumetric flask.
  • The flask is filled with distilled water to the graduation line until the bottom of the meniscus lines up to the mark.
  • If the distilled water goes above the graduation line the experiment would have to be redone.
  • Finally, the volumetric flask is slowly inverted several times to mix the solution, if this stage is omitted, titration results are likely to be inconsistent.
