A

An aim is an ultimate purpose of a business

What is an objective?

A

An objective is a measurable goal that is sought in order to achieve an aim. Objectives set targets for particular aims that a company wants to achieve. Objectives are more specific than aims.

Why do aims and objectives differ between businesses?

A
  • The size of a business: New companies might focus on growth and survival because of the need to establish themselves and their high chance of failure.
  • The level of competition: If a business in an highly competitive market, then it’s objectives might change from increasing market share or growth to survival.
  • Type of business: Not-for-profit firms will usually focus more on ethical and social objectives than for-profit firms.
