Explain how rapid globalisation has created political tension in some locations. (6)
Rapid globalisation occurs due to opening more borders and TNC investment. This leads to mass migration which leads to tension.
Example of tension is growing inequalities, lack of benefits, clashing of culture.
Migrants need housing. If migration rates keep increasing then it will come under strain and the citizens will not be happy as they are not prioritised. There is a rise of tension with some of the host country population who may view the migration as ‘too many too fast’. That is why most citizens in the UK voted to leave the EU in 2016 - brexit.
Some countries may not like how much information is being spread around in a country and how much unnecessary yet conflicting news can be spread. Therefore China have their own source of internet where the government sorts the information they only want you to see. This prevents tension with other countries. Saudi arabia is preventing tension as well by allowing woman to drive now however is reluctant on letting any sort of protest to occur.
On the other hand, there are some countries where they have embraced rapid globalisation and limited tension by being open to gay marriage and investing in education, jobs and housing.
