• One of the major acute phase proteins in horses, a biomarker for systemic inflammation and infection. -Concentration can increase 100- to even 100-fold during systemic disease processes
• Normal range 0.5-20mg/mL. -Inflammatory disease levels >50mg/mL
• Values increase quickly and peak at 48hrs, then can return rapidly to baseline in 1-2 weeks.
