What are the mitigations for EMR/ESD (Electro Magnetic Radiation/Electro Static Discharge)

A

Transmit radios at appropriate power and distance
Turn down/off all radios in area
Isolate HZ power lines
Turn off directional radar in area
Ground before touching or close proximity (2 secs)
UXO on asphalt or concrete employ ground electrode
Exposed black powder is susceptible to ESD
Shield as detailed in ref manual

What are the mitigations for Booby Trap

A

Hold if ground has been ant enemy access since UXO landed (intel on enemy)
Treat all mines as booby trapped
Look, feel, prod, I.e F3, Ghostwire drills as per threat assessment
Mark clear areas
Remotely move only

A

Carriers, mines, ports and other bursters that eject a payload, stay clear of ejection port/opening.
Use cation around undeployed tail assemblies

A

Do not change state of radar, RF emitters etc
No vehicles within area
Remove all metal from body
Do not disturb metal in area
Non-magnetic tools
PPE on as soon as magnetic hazard dropped
Protective clothing as first return to ICP

A

No vehicles in area
Secure/remove loose clothing that makes a noise
No vocals near approach
Full acoustic silence near device
Any noise freeze for time
No metal/metal contact
If UXO is touched do not rub or slide hands

A

PPE including respirator on approach
First aid and water available
Do not inhale smoke
S10 must be carried on the man

A
