What are the two ways that networks
networks can either be configured as thin client or thick client networks.
What is a thin client network?
Majority of the networks processing power belongs to servers which provide services and resources including storage and processing.
Why is it easy to add clients to a thin network?
The clients themselves are inexpensive machines. Thin clients networks allow for greater centralised control.

What is a disadvantage of the thin client network?
Requires a powerful server which is expensive and requires expertise to set up and maintain.
What is a thick client network?
Clients are powerful enough to provide their own processing power and storage.
How does the independence of a thick client network effect the actual network.
Independence eliminates the requirement for a server, although it is possible for thick client networks to make use of a server.
Can thick client networks use servers?
Typically no as they are not required however, they can.
Which of the two types of network configurations are more powerful? What is the effect of this?
Thick clients and therefore they are more effective.
What is an advantage of a thick client server?
The costs and expertise of setting up and maintaining an expensive server is done away with.
Are thick clients easy or hard to maintain? why?
Harder to maintain than their counterpart as there is no facility to issue updates and manage security from a central server.
Compare the volume of traffic between thin and thick clients.
Thin clients suffer from high volumes of traffic communicating between clients and the server. Thick clients have less volumes of communication traffic, reducing their chances of collisions.
