Q

what is diabetic ketoacidosis

A

an extreme form of diabetes where insulin is overwhelmed by counter regulatory hormones such as

  • glucagon
  • epinephrine
  • cortisol

causes:
- metabolic acidosis
- ketonemia
- severe hyperglycemia
