Q

How do scientists classify new organism or reclassify existing ones?

A

They use Molecular Phylogeny (similarities between DNA and proteins).

  • study DNA base sequence and protein amino acid sequence
  • Find number of similarities and differences
  • The more similarities the more closely related they are and the more recently they shared a common ancestor.
