Relationships/Photographs/GIS Flashcards
What are the keywords for describing relationships on a scatter and line graph?
Positive: as one variable increases the other increases
Negative/inverse: as one variable increases the other decreases
No relationship: as one variable increases the other stays the same.
Fluctuation: goes up and down
Constant: changes at the same rate.
Exponential: increasing more and more rapidly
What would you use to describe the relationships on a scatter and line graph?
Overall: increases or decreases; type of relationship; constant or fluctuates
Data: give some data e.g. change over time OR specific examples
Difference: range AND anomalies
What are aerial photographs?
photos from directly above.
What are aerial photographs?
photos from directly above.
What are oblique photographs?
photos taken from an angle.
What are satellite photographs?
Photos taken from space.
What is the GIS (Geographical Information System)?
A system which maps multiple pieces of data by layering different pieces of data onto one map.
When should you use the GIS?
To show spatial distribution and links between data sets
What are the strengths of using the GIS?
Large amount of information
Public services often use the information for planning
What are the weaknesses of using the GIS?
Can be difficult to read if there is too much information
Computer and ICT systems are needed
Expensive equipment
