Early mobilisation and discharge.
May require prophylaxis.
What is the most common causes of urinary retention following pregnancy?
Vaginal trauma or pain.
Treat with catheterisation.
When do the 2 peaks of postnatal depression occur?
2-4 weeks
10-14 weeks
How is postnatal depression treated?
Support and antidepressants.
Where does puerperal psychosis present?
Days 3 and 14.
It is of abrupt onset.
What organism is most commonly responsible for mastitis?
Staphylococcus aureus
How is mastitis treated?
Treat with oral flucloxacillin and advise to continue breastfeeding.
What form of contraception is advised following pregnancy?
Progesterone OP
Combined OC pill is contraindicated due to the risk of venous thromboembolism.
