Q

Which model is an applied version of the Schachter-singer Two factor? Describe the model.

A

it is Clark’s model: individuals with panic are prone to the
detection of threat or danger in the internal and external environment. loop: stimulus -> The perceived threat creates apprehension of the threat which triggers bodily symptoms which feed into sensations of catastrophe, which feed back into worsening the perceived threat etc…

studentedit_1: “not sure if this answer is right, in the lecture she just said they are related, but not really applied, but i might be wrong”

Q

Explain the Schachter-Singer Two Factor model (1962) and an experiment that represents it well.

A

stimulus –> arousal –> cognition –> emotion
an appraisal model which suggests that emotion involves the cognitive interpretation of a state of bodily arousal. The same state of arousal is proposed to underpin both positive and negative emotions, but the crucial determinant of the type of emotion experiences is how the individual explained this state of arousal
Either the research about epinephrine or the research about people crossing the bridge.

Q

What is the difference between the emotion models of James &Lange’s (1884) and Cannon & Bard (1920)? Which elements of emotion is not included?

A

James & Lange: Event (seeing bear) occurs which create a bodily response (e.g. increased heart rate) which then give rise to an emotion (e.g. fear)

Cannon & Bard): Event (seeing bear) creates activity in brain which simultaneously activate bodily responses (heart rate) and emotion (fear)

-> no interpretation or appraisal included
