Q

Give three examples on how depressed people differentiate in social interaction and explain why social interaction can be a mediation factor for mildly depressed people to get into a depressive episode.

A

People that are mildly depressed tend to show a more sad facial expression, less eye contact, use less gestures, speak slower and softer, choose more negative discussion topics and evaluate themselves more negatively in conversations. Social interaction can be a risk factor for people that are mildly depressed, because rejection or negative feedback may follow from social interactions from lack of social skills. This can result in an increased negative self-evaluation and experiencing loneliness.
