What is CanCon

A

A controversial ruling that compels Canadian broadcasters to devote a certain percentage to air time to Canadian artists

the amount varies depending upon the broadcaster (CBC does more) and time of day
(in prime time, there are different expectations than during the day)

composers

2) Industrial: to strengthen to Canadian music industry

A

What was the Bryan Adams controversy about MAPL

A

recorded the song mainly in England, some recording was done in Canada but not enough to qualify for “P”. he also collaborated with a producer in England, they were both credited as composers, so it didn’t qualify for “M” or “L”. only the artist (Adams) was Canadian if one composer had written the lyrics and the other the music, it would have qualified but as is, it didn’t
