Santa Magdalena DOC - allows for blending Schiava with 15% Lagrein for more body/color

grapes include Schiava, Pinot grigio, Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay, Pinot bianco, Pinot noir, and Sauvignon blanc. max yield for white is 90hl/ha. 60% white, 40% red.

Bassa Atesina zone - in the south, warmer
Oltradige zone - in the North. Where Schiava is grown near lake Caldaro.

98% of wine in Alto Adige is DOC. wines can be bianco, single variety, or 2 variety blends. Can label with 1 of 6 subzones.

on the alluvial plain - Grave del Friuli DOC, Friuli Isonzo DOC
on the hillside with ponca soil - Collio DOC and Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC. grapes grown on hillside include Friulano, Ribolla gialla. Refrosco is the most planted local red grape.
