A

51
Q

When do we use the past perfect of the subjunctive? & how do we use

A

We use the past perfect of the subjunctive in structures that require the subjunctive, but unlike the present subjunctive, we only use this form to
talk about recently completed events, past events without specifying a date, or to refer to an action that will end in the future. These are the same uses as the preterite perfect indicative). We never use the perfect subjunctive if the verb of the main clause is in the past
tense.

The past perfect of the subjunctive is built with the auxiliary verb ‘have’ in the present subjunctive and the participle of the verb that we want to conjugate
(in regular verbs, the participle of verbs ending in -ar is -ado and for verbs ending in -er, -ir is -ido).

Ex. yo haya
■ tú hayas hablado
■ él haya cantado
■ nosotros hayamos corrido
■ vosotros hayáis vivido
■ ellos hayan
52
Q

When do we use imperfect subjunctive? & how conjugate

A

We use this form in structures where we need to use the subjunctive, and the subjunctive
verb can refer to the past, present or future.
Generally, when the verb of the main clause is in a tense past or conditional, we use the imperfect subjunctive. We also use it with expressions of courtesy and to express conditions which would rarely be fulfilled together with the conditional mood.

estudiara/se, estudiaras/ses, estudiara/se, estudiaraos/semos, estudiarais/seis, estudiaran/sen

fuera/se, fueras/ses, fuera/se, fueramos/semos, fuerais/fuesemos, fueran/ suesen

saliera/se, salieras/ses, saliera/se, saliera/se…

63
Q

What is the difference between the use of the present subjunctive,
perfect subjunctive, and imperfect subjunctive

A

the difference between the use of the present subjunctive and the
perfect subjunctive is that, when we use the present, the action of the verb is
located in the present or future tense, and when we use the perfect, the action of
the verb It is situated in the past without a specific date or in the recent past.

When the verb of the main clause is in the past, the verb of the relative usually goes in the imperfect subjunctive. On the other hand, when it goes in the conditional
(CONDITIONAL)
(LAST)
It can go both in the present subjunctive and in the imperfect subjunctive

when we place the
action in a past tense unrelated to the present, we use the imperfect
subjunctive; when we place it in a recent past related to the present, we use
the perfect subjunctive, and when we place the action in the present or future,
we use the present subjunctive.

64
Q

I want to meet a guy who has traveled a lot and does not smoke.

A

SUBJUNTIVO)

68
Q

someone who would accept me just the way I am.

A

Me gustaría encontrar a alguien que…
(CONDICIONAL) me aceptara tal y como soy. (IMPERFECTO
SUBJUNTIVO)

O

Me gustaría encontrar a alguien que…
(CONDICIONAL) me acepte tal y como soy. (PRESENTE
SUBJUNTIVO)

A

Me gustaría que el trabajo de mis sueños fuera en una empresa muy

70
Q

I hope you have given him the vacation days vacation days he asked for…. (3 ways)

A

Espero que le haya dado los días de vacaciones que pidió… (given recently, in the recent past)
■ Espero que le dieran los días de vacaciones que pidió… (that they were given in the past, not necessarly recent)
■ Espero que le den los días de vacaciones que pidió… (to be given today or in the future)

when we place the
action in a past tense unrelated to the present, we use the imperfect
subjunctive; when we place it in a recent past related to the present, we use
the perfect subjunctive, and when we place the action in the present or future,
we use the present subjunctive.
